Breathe Yoga & Wellness is a full-service yoga and Pilates studio located in charming downtown Morganton amidst the serene natural beauty of the Appalachian foothills known as “Nature’s Playground.” We offer group classes, private instruction, and professional training. Our proximity to a variety of local businesses and venues also allows us to offer diverse classes and events at offsite locations. Convenient access to Breathe Yoga & Wellness includes parking on the street and in the public lot located within the same city block.

About the Owners:

Janna Kropelnicki and Marie Carey are the current owners of Breathe Yoga & Wellness.  While they have had different paths that led them to Breathe, they have a unique partnership that has enabled Breathe to continue to be a positive presence in the Morganton community.  Their goal is to continue offering a variety of yoga and Pilates classes that will resonate with any member of the community that wishes to participate.  

Janna Kropelnicki and her partner, Mary, have lived in Morganton since 2011, following a cross-country move from Seattle. They love this community and are proud to call it home!  Janna found her passion for Pilates many years ago as a student of the practice while rehabbing from an injury.  After 33 years with the federal judiciary, she retired in September 2018 from her position as a Human Resources professional and fulfilled her dream of becoming a certified Pilates instructor. Janna is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) and enjoys sharing the many benefits of the practice with students of all levels.  When she’s not at the studio, Janna can be found running, doing CrossFit, following NASCAR (oddly, another of her passions), or just hanging out with her dogs, Augie, Dash, and Penny.

Marie Carey and her husband, Ben, moved to Morganton in the summer of 2015.  While Marie has always had a passion for helping others, she became interested in yoga after earning her Master’s Degree as a mental health counselor.  As she learned skills and techniques to help clients in a therapeutic way as a counselor, she came to appreciate and understand more about the mind/body connection to enhance wellness as well.  She began her yoga instructor training in January 2018 and is currently a 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher.  Outside of the studio, Marie likes to stay active and enjoys running, lifting weights, hiking, and playing with her dog, Raven.
